Make-up artist Jaanmoni Das from Assam has made a name for herself in Kerala.

It was to be a Photoshoot go for a film magazine. Trans-sexual make-up artist Jaanmoni Das and her right hand were to do the make-up for the model to be highlighted on its cover for the debut issue.

“She was a lovely young lady—thin and ideal to take a gander at. She was sweet-natured. Us, my collaborator and I, submited thought upon idea advising her to begin demonstrating since she would photo superbly. We continued endlessly… .” It was a lot later that she understood who the ‘model’ was. “Manju Warrier!” Jaanmoni can’t quit giggling at her obliviousness.

She was unable to have known. It has been just a long time since the much popular make-up craftsman, an Assamese, made Kerala home. En route she ‘took in’ her film stars.

What makes the story wonderful is the manner by which she will not let her way of life as a transsexual characterize her. Unashamed and pleased, she states that it is only a part of what her identity is. More than once during the discussion she states her independence personally and an expert. “I’m what I am. I’m not concealing anything.” She is appreciative for her ‘magnificently strong family’, particularly her mom (Beauty Das), which has remained by her. She has two siblings to whose training she has contributed.

Her customer list seems like the’s who of Malayalam ‘VIP dom’— Amala Paul, Ranjini Haridas, Abhirami, Revathy, Lissy Priyadarshan, Manju Warrier, Rima Kallingal, Poornima Indrajith, Shwetha Menon, Karthika, Nazriya, Mythili, Kaavya Madhavan and Namitha Pramod among others. Today, she is considered as a real part of the top make-up specialists in the State. Guwahati is far from Kerala, yet she has crossed the distance in a real sense and allegorically.

With earthy colored features that balance her wavy hair, nails and toes painted her #1 shade and a spot of lipstick; she is each piece exciting as her stars. Jaanmoni talks constant, the accounts tumbling out in a rush.

Of how she fled from home at 14; how she, as a three-year-old, cherished saris and make-up; how her grandma used to allude to her as Brihannala (the female structure Arjuna expected during Pandavas’ outcast); how she adores red nail clean and how her dad responded when she fled. “He advised me to do anything I desired to however never to ask him for cash.” Today she upholds her family for “how could a family endure just on the compensation of an administration worker?”

A possibility excursion to Kerala in 2010, as a component of an Assamese film, handled her here. Same Rimi Tomy whose make-up she does, for her network shows.

Among these names an impossible name manifests, that of entertainer Revathy. “I haven’t worked much with her however when I did, she showed me significant exercises about being a lady and carrying on with existence with poise. I’m appreciative to her for that.” The second passes, the upbeat Jaanmoni is back and she says, “My customers trust me, when I get down to work they realize I’ll make them dazzling. Obviously without my group – Haan, Derin, Sweety and Babin I would be no place.”

A spell with a voyaging theater organization drove her to make-up. An individual from the company saw Jaanmoni’s felicity of make-up and proposed taking it up as a calling. A to the side – she was a Sattriya artist. She wound up helping make-up craftsman Ratul Boro, a known name in the Assamese entertainment world. When Ratul moved to Delhi, Jaanmoni acquired his customers and “notoriety since I was his last right hand before he left for Delhi. I was the sovereign (of make-up) when I left, on the off chance that I return I will in any case run the show.” It is, presumably, this energy that has procured her the standing of being something of an ‘ahanakari’.
